Serious question: Does Biden’s staff leave him this poorly informed, or is he just playing dumb?

Biden doesn’t appear to understand inflation. Sure, it would be even worse if the inflation rate rose to 10% or 15%, but that’s irrelevant. The inflation rate is not like the unemployment rate — inflation is cumulative. Every month of high inflation does more damage to families’ budgets. It is devastating already for inflation to stay at record levels, as it has done this summer — the rate doesn’t have to increase. With inflation above 8%, your income is vanishing at the fastest rate since the 1970s.

The fact that inflation has remained persistently high — but not higher! — is not grounds for Biden to claim accomplishment or to celebrate as he did at his ridiculous “inflation party” at the White House earlier this month. With his comments about inflation going up “just an inch,” Biden displays a detachment from reality that is dangerous in any national leader. But this is the kind of misleading statement he has to make to save his political party from disaster — never mind that the average high school graduate who has to buy groceries from a shrinking paycheck probably sees through it.

The Biden administration also has a set of alternative facts when it comes to the immigration crisis at the border. The number of illegal immigrants crossing into the United States is setting new records and overwhelming border towns, and it’s all thanks to Biden’s policies. Fentanyl is also crossing the border amid the chaos and flooding the streets of the nation’s cities. Yet Vice President Kamala Harris has the gall to go on television and claim that “the border is secure.”

If that is true, then why are both Democratic and Republican leaders in border states complaining to Biden? In South Texas, some Democratic officials have actually changed parties because of Biden’s extreme neglect and unwillingness to listen to anyone.

Both parties’ leaders have been busing eastward a mere handful of the tens of thousands of immigrants arriving each week and sleeping on the now-overcrowded streets of El Paso, Del Rio, Eagle Pass, and McAllen. Because Biden abolished his predecessor Donald Trump’s functional “Remain in Mexico” policy for asylum-seekers, a new flood of immigrants is completely overwhelming the local housing supply and social services in these areas.

What world is Biden living in where he has any grounds to criticize the officials sending buses or planes full of immigrants to self-proclaimed “sanctuary cities” where there is actually housing and money to deal with this problem? Biden, after all, is the one who created the problem.

Finally, in his comical, theatrical way, Biden delivered a speech in front of a hilariously sinister red background, claiming that everyone who disagrees with him poses a threat to American democracy. This came just months after his White House and Justice Department had colluded to target parents as domestic terrorists for being concerned by the low quality of education, lack of discipline, and extremist indoctrination in their children’s schools.

Fortunately, this Biden falsehood, an attempt to justify new power grabs and further curtailment of constitutional rights, is transparently ridiculous. Nobody actually believes it, although some talking heads really want to.

Biden cannot acknowledge or tell the truth about inflation or immigration. And like most incompetents who expect to lose their next election, he is falsely attempting to demonize his opposition to expand his own powers and mess things up even worse.

Biden evidently thinks he presides over a nation of idiots. He thinks mathematical chicanery can explain away inflation or that a sinister-looking red background is enough to scare people into accepting his incompetence as normal. Don’t be fooled.
