Trump demands world reimburse US for Iran war: ‘We’re protecting a very rich portion’

President Donald Trump said Monday that the United States should be “reimbursed” for protecting the Strait of Hormuz, arguing that wealthy Gulf nations should help cover the cost of securing one of the world’s most important shipping lanes.

“I want to be reimbursed because we’re protecting a very rich portion of the world,” Trump told reporters from the Oval Office. “We’re spending money, and so what we’ve done is we are going to be reimbursed for protection.”
