Go car-free for free pizza

More than 7,300 Washington-area residents have pledged to ditch their car or car pool in honor of Car Free Day on Thursday, already outpacing last year’s registrations with several days to go. The annual event is sponsored by Commuter Connections, a regional transportation network coordinated by the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments. Those who pledged to go “car-free” or “car-lite” by Monday will receive an email coupon for free pizza and a soda at Flippin’ Pizza, and will also become eligible to win an iPad, a bicycle, tickets to Washington Nationals games, $25 SmarTrip cards, a Capital Bikeshare membership and more.
