Policy Bosses: Electricity boss doesn’t buy Trump’s coal bailout

Electricity policy is sometimes arcane — some say by design. In the end, it all shows up in the bills each of us pays each month. To discuss this policy, John Hughes, CEO of the Electricity Consumers Resource Council, joins Washington Examiner reporter John Siciliano on Policy Bosses.

After 30 years of representing large, industrial users of energy in Washington, Hughes is retiring. He has chosen Devin Hartman from the free-market R Street Institute to lead the trade group. Hughes is steeped in the ins-and-out of dealing with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, the nation’s electric grid regulator.

Hughes and Siciliano discuss electrical use, policy, and how the Trump administration’s focus on coal affects the electrical industry.
