January Social Security payment worth $994 goes out in 29 days

January 2026 Supplemental Security Income payments, worth up to $994, will be issued to recipients in 29 days.

SSI payments are typically issued on the first day of a month, but January’s payment is going out on Dec. 31. When the next month’s first day falls on either a weekend or holiday, the latter being the case for January’s payment, SSI payments are issued on the last day of the previous month that doesn’t fall on a weekend or holiday.
