The Trump administration told a senior official in New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani‘s government to cancel a planned meeting with Iran’s permanent representative to the United Nations this week amid rising tensions in the Middle East.
Ana Maria Archila, commissioner of the Mayor’s Office for International Affairs, was scheduled to meet with Iranian Ambassador Amir Saeid Iravani on Tuesday at Two United Nations Plaza in Manhattan until the State Department intervened, City Journal reported. Administration officials met with Mamdani’s office to ensure the meeting did not take place.
