What Hasan Piker’s Axios interview shows about his preparedness to wade further into politics

Hasan Piker has spent tens of thousands of hours talking before his massive online audience, but a nearly hourlong interview with Axios put the leftist streamer in a less familiar position: being confronted with his own words without control of the conversation.

Piker has transformed from an internet influencer into a recurring political character in the 2026 midterm elections. Republicans have used his digital footprint to make him a symbol of the Democratic Party’s progressive wing, farming video clips in which Piker makes outlandish claims the GOP uses to paint the candidates he has endorsed as “anti-America.”
