Growing concerns about nonstop illegal immigration has surged to a record high, becoming America’s biggest “problem” by a mile, according to a new poll.
In its latest survey, Gallup said that 27% cited immigration as their top concern, up from a month ago when it hit a prior record at 23%.

Reaching 27% is a major milestone, said Gallup, and puts the issue in the top six to reach that level over the past 18 years.
“Gallup has asked the ‘most important problem’ question since 1939, and has done so on a monthly basis since March 2001. Over the past 19 years, only five other issues have been mentioned at some point by at least the 27% who named immigration this month. These include the economy in general, unemployment, the situation in Iraq, terrorism and the government,” said Gallup.

Typically hovering at about 6% and far under several other issues, worries about immigration have surged since Donald Trump made it a focus of his election and presidency.
Surprisingly, the economy is much lower on the list of problems, and that is likely good news for the president. Just 3% cited the economy as the “most important problem facing this country today.”
