White House Deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller emphasized facets of President Donald Trump’s “big beautiful bill” that pertain to stifling illegal immigration in an attempt to pressure Republican skeptics into backing the legislation.
The House passed the bill last month. However, GOP fiscal hawks in the Senate, including Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) and Ron Johnson (R-WI), are threatening to derail the legislation over concerns led by former Trump adviser Elon Musk that it fails to sufficiently slash federal spending levels.
