Boston trained 100 people in city-funded migrant advocacy program — mostly from other countries

A Boston government program has trained 98 foreign-born participants in political advocacy and other activities for “immigrant communities.”

The city’s taxpayer-funded “Immigrants Lead Boston” program enrolled applicants from China, the Middle East, Africa, and elsewhere since its 2020 launch, as well as just two participants from the United States, according to official class lists. Boston’s Office for Immigrant Advancement has offered the initiative to help legal immigrants, illegal immigrants, and “residents with ties to immigrant communities” with “civic engagement and community organizing,” the city’s website says.
