One dead and another injured after two helicopters collide in New Jersey

Emergency crews responded to a midair crash involving two helicopters that left one person killed and another seriously injured in Hammonton, New Jersey, on Sunday morning.

The Federal Aviation Administration said the crash happened near Hammonton Municipal Airport at around 11:25 a.m. when an Enstrom F-28A and an Enstrom 280C collided midair. The pilots of each aircraft were the only ones aboard. 

The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board said they were investigating this crash, with the latter agency in charge of the investigation.

The other pilot was taken to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries. 

CONGRESSIONAL REPORT FINDS ARMY AT FAULT FOR PATOMAC PLANE CRASH

Hammonton Police Chief Kevin Friel said police and fire crews extinguished the flames that had consumed one of the aircraft, according to the Associated Press.

The Washington Examiner contacted both Friel and the NTSB for comment.
