RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — The nation’s largest private, nonprofit Civil War preservation group is heading to Virginia’s capital city for its annual convention.

The Civil War Trust is bringing in a who’s who of historians to its Richmond gathering, which begins Wednesday evening and runs through the weekend. One of the speakers will be Edward Ayers, the University of Richmond president and one of the nation’s most respected voices on the Civil War.

The trust will also present programs on the Seven Days’ Battles and Civil War ballooning and offer shuttle trips to local attractions.

Saturday, the Museum of the Confederacy will be honored by the trust for its preservation efforts.
