OAKLAND, Calif. (Legal Newsline) – Facebook has filed a motion to dismiss in a lawsuit against it for allegedly violating users’ privacy by using data from private messages to generate targeted advertisements.

Facebook believes the plaintiffs have failed to state a claim under the Wiretap Act, according to Facebook’s motion to dismiss, which was file June 17 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.
