Ted Cruz’s spouse responded to threats from Donald Trump against her by saying Trump’s words have “no basis in reality.”
While campaigning in Wisconsin, Heidi Cruz spoke to the media about her reaction to Trump tweeting a warning that he would “spill the beans” on her.

“I have one job on this campaign, and that is to be helping Ted win this race and it is, I think the easiest job in the world because all I have to do is speak the truth,” she said. “You probably know by now that most of the things Donald Trump says have no basis in reality. So we are not worried in the least. We’re focusing on our campaign, and we are going to continue to do that.”
Trump took aim at Cruz’s wife after a super PAC that is unaffiliated with the Cruz campaign featured an image of Melania Trump, the reality television star’s third wife, in one of its advertisements. Cruz responded that he had nothing to do with the ad and called Trump a coward for rhetorically targeting his wife, which Trump dismissed as an explanation from “Lyin’ Ted.”
The Texas senator is campaigning in Trump’s home state of New York on Wednesday afternoon before heading to Wisconsin later in the evening.
