During the lighting of the U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree., House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., issued a moment of silence for the victims of the shooting in San Bernardino, Calif., Wednesday.
“Before I begin, I just want to say that we are all thinking about the current and ongoing tragedy in California today,” Ryan said. “I would like to have a brief moment of silence now for those who are affected … Please keep the victims and their families in your prayers right now.”
As of press time, authorities reported that 16 people are dead as a result of the mass shooting, while two of the shooters have been killed by police and federal agents, and another suspect has been detained.
