Fans of “The West Wing” were surely happy to see a familiar face wading into politics this week. But sadly actor Martin Sheen wasn’t playing his character President Jebediah Bartlett when he joined the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee to shill for Medicare. If he had, he probably wouldn’t have said something like this: “And remember true patriots don’t just live in America, America lives in them.” Uhhh, sure? Sheen wrote a letter on behalf of the DCCC and filmed a video attacking proposed Republican changes to Medicare. “And what is their goal? Simply to sacrifice Medicare in order to give tax cuts to special interests, that was not the America I was raised to love,” he said.
