On Tuesday, actress Daryl Hannah was arrested in front of the White House for protesting the planned Keystone XL pipeline, which will go through six Midwestern states to reach refineries in Texas.
In footage captured by NBC Washington, Hannah is seen sitting on Pennsylvania Avenue with a group of environment activists and Code Pink supporters, looking casual in jeans, a tan blazer, a white peasant top and ankle-high boots. As the group sang “This Little Light of Mine,” Hannah was gently pulled up by a U.S. Park Police officer and cuffed, all the while shouting, “No to the Keystone pipeline.”
Hannah, who has been active with environmental causes in the past, and the other protesters are advocating for clean energy instead of the pipeline.
