Nope on hope?
This close to the election, any misstep can be costly.
Exhibit A: The College Democrats at Bowdoin College were super-excited about their “FREE OBAMA POSTER!” which they blasted out via e-mail to the group. The poster, of course, was a take on Obama’s now-infamous “Hope” slogan, and the original message told club members to “Come volunteer tonight for just 15 minutes and get a free, huge Obama poster (check out the attachment).”
Only problem? Bowdoin’s take on it accidentally made a devastating typo, thanks to how close the “H” and “N” keys are on a keyboard. As a result, “Hope” was turned into “Nope,” creating a less than pro-Obama message. The error was clickly noted, forcing one Bowdoin College Democrat to resend a corrected version to the group. “Yeah, that’s my mistake,” he wrote. “As clever as it is, the poster does not say ‘Nope,’ but ‘Hope.’ Here’s the real one.”
