President Obama doled out the Medal of Freedom at the White House to 13 individuals Tuesday afternoon, including former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, astronaut John Glenn, and most importantly, musician Bob Dylan. “This is a packed house, which is a testament to how cool this group is,” Obama said. Keeping with that theme, Dylan decided to wear a pair of sunglasses and a tuxedo to the ceremony. “I have to say that I am a really big fan,” Obama said, when it was time for Dylan’s introduction.

The president ticked off fun facts about each of the award recipients. NCAA great Pat Summitt almost punched her doctor when she received her Alzheimer’s diagnosis. Additionally, it never bothered Justice John Paul Stevens when tourists asked him to take pictures of them in front of the Supreme Court.

Also recognized were author Toni Morrison, civil rights champion John Doar, physician William Foege, human rights activist Dolores Huerta, Holocaust whistleblower Jan Karski, Girl Scouts Founder Juliette Gordon Low, Israeli president Shimon Peres and Gordon Hirabayashi, who defied Japanese internment during World War II.
