Sen. Ted Cruz raised $12.2 million during the three month period ending Sept. 30, his presidential campaign revealed Thursday evening.
Of that total, the Texas Republican said $1 million came in on the final day of the third quarter, and another $1 million was received in the 48 hours after last month’s televised debate. The Cruz campaign declined to reveal how much money it had in its coffers at the end of the fundraising period.
But in a press release, Cruz touted a doubling of his total donations from the previous fundraising period, receiving 184,800 contributions averaging $66 each. The senator also highlighted the support of what he calls “sustainer” donors. Cruz said the 6,000 such contributors who have pledged monthly contributions.
“We are thrilled to see a grassroots wave of support for our campaign gaining momentum all over the country,” Cruz said in a statement. “Not only are we seeing a surge of new donors and recurring donors to our campaign, but also continued growth of our organizations in the early states and all across the country.”
