Chris Christie defended his latest attack on Republican rival Marco Rubio and repeated his claim that the senator lacks the experience for the White House.
“He’s just simply not ready,” Christie told Jake Tapper on CNN Sunday morning. “He’s a good guy, but he is not ready to be president of the United States.”
In Saturday night’s GOP debate, Christie slammed Rubio as an inexperienced first-term senator. On Sunday morning, the New Jersey governor said his attack had finally hit home.
“I’ve been saying this for a long time and I don’t think people have really listened,” he said. A commander-in-chief should be “tested,” “prepared” and “experienced,” Christie argued.
“Quite frankly, that’s what I was trying to show the folks last night, that I am tested and prepared and ready,” Christie added.
He argued that President Obama’s leadership and inexperience have hurt the country.
“We don’t need another on-the-job training in the White House,” he said. “We need someone who’s actually done this stuff and I’ve done it. I’m glad the American people are getting to see this before they make a mistake.”
