There were aspects of Monday night’s Distilled Spirits Council party that were very Washington. Lots of lobbyists, plenty of jackets and ties, copious amounts of booze, free cigars, and D.C. party circuit regulars like Grover Norquist, Ron Bonjean and Luke Russert.
But there were other aspects that reminded us that we weren’t in the District anymore – mainly mermaids.
DISCUS brought in two mer-women, as we will call them to be politically correct, to swim among the fish at the Florida Aquarium. Guests also got to check out the aquarium’s more traditional exhibits.
Buzzfeed is holding an invite-only party at the venue Wednesday. That one will include live penguins as well as mermaids.
