Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump thinks President Obama’s intensified focus on climate change amid the growing threat of militant Islamic terrorism is “ridiculous.”
The outspoken billionaire, who says he is “not a believer” in global warming, ridiculed Obama in one of his usual Instagram videos Tuesday.
“While the world is in turmoil and falling apart in so many different ways, especially with [the Islamic State], our president is worried about global warming,” a stern-faced Trump said.
The 15-second video is the second web-based ad posted by Trump in the last 24 hours. In a similar video uploaded Monday, Trump placed clips of Obama laughing in between news coverage of the Islamic State’s recent threats against the U.S. and Europe.
Trump, who maintained his No. 1 spot in the Washington Examiner’s latest presidential power rankings, captioned his video Tuesday with a simple question: “What is Obama thinking?” Within 30 minutes, the post had received nearly 4,500 likes and 1,000 comments.
Obama, who is currently in Paris for the United Nations’ climate conference, stirred controversy last week when he described international efforts to address climate change as a “powerful rebuke to the terrorists.”
“I think one of the dumbest statements I’ve ever heard in politics — in the history of politics as I know it, which is pretty good, was Obama’s statement that our No. 1 problem is global warming,” Trump said Monday on MSNBC.
