The politically flirtatious Alec Baldwin will address the National Press Club this spring, the club announced Thursday. Baldwin is scheduled to appear at an NPC luncheon on April 19 to discuss art and politics, with tickets ranging from $19 to $37.
The “30 Rock” star has long been associated with progressive political causes and wants to, eventually, make the jump into politics himself. This week he told CNN’s Piers Morgan just how serious he is. “I do want to run for office one day,” Baldwin said on Wednesday’s program. “When and how is something I’m still trying to think very seriously about.”
Baldwin memorably visited Washington last spring, alongside actor Kevin Spacey, to testify before Congress, asking members to maintain the current levels of funding for the National Endowment of the Arts. Unfortunately for the Hollywood duo, lawmakers canceled the hearing, leaving Baldwin and Spacey to read their testimony before the group gathered at the Arts Advocacy Day breakfast.
