Poll: Clinton’s favorability continues to sag

More than half of the public has an unfavorable view of Hillary Clinton, according to a new poll.

Fifty-one percent of those asked in an ABC News/Washington Post poll this month have an unfavorable view of the Democratic front-runner, and only 46 percent of those asked have a favorable view.

The same poll got roughly the same results in August and October.

Among Democrats, Clinton wins high marks, as 83 percent of Democrats view her favorably. That compares with Bernie Sanders’ 54 percent.

But her negative favorability rating among the entire population will likely be a hurt to her winning the White House if she becomes the Democratic nominee.

The poll, produced for ABC by Langer Research Associates, says 53 percent of registered voters don’t have a favorable view of her. Also, 38 percent view Clinton “strongly” as unfavorably, while 23 percent see Clinton “strongly” in a favorable light.

Among Republicans, 85 percent give her a negative rating, compared with Sanders’ 56 percent, and 57 percent of independents view her unfavorably versus Sanders’ 38 percent.

Most men view her unfavorably, while most women view her favorably.

The landline and cellphone poll of roughly 1,000 U.S. adults was conducted Nov. 4-8, 2015, in English and Spanish, including 318 Democrats. Results have a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3.5 points for the full sample and plus or minus 6.5 points for Democrats. The survey was produced for ABC News by Langer Research Associates of New York, N.Y.
