Not cool: Kal Penn gets robbed in Dupont

This was probably not on Kal Penn’s checklist of things to do while living in D.C.

The actor-turned-White House staffer, who has been going by his real name Kalpen Modi while working for the Obama administration, was robbed at gunpoint near his Dupont Circle town house early Tuesday, police sources told the Washington Examiner.

A man with a dark-colored pistol ran up to Penn, who was walking down the 1500 block of S Street NW around 1:20 a.m., and demanded Penn give him “everything.”

That everything included his wallet, cash, two cells phone and his White House ID. (Don’t get any ideas, future White House dinner crashers).

The gunman instructed Penn to get on the ground, then fled. Police were looking for two suspects.

The incident comes at the end of Penn’s tenure in Washington. It was reported in early April that he’d be leaving his White House post to reprise his role as part of America’s favorite set of stoners in a Christmas-themed “Harold & Kumar” flick. While in town, even with his star power, he kept a low profile while doing outreach to Asian-American communities and being an advocate for the arts.

Penn returned to work Tuesday and was doing fine.
