Americans want President Obama to focus on the fight against the Islamic State during his final State of the Union speech.

Twenty-six percent view the terrorist group as the most important issue for Obama to discuss Tuesday night, according to a new Morning Consult poll. More than eight in 10 (83 percent) said it is important the president discuss the Islamic State, with 62 percent saying it is “very important” and 21 percent saying “somewhat important.”

Following the Islamic State, the economy ranks second with 20 percent, while “clear direction and leadership” for the U.S. ranks third with 13 percent.

Reducing gun violence and improving the healthcare system by reducing costs and the number of uninsured tie for fourth with 7 percent, followed by reducing poverty in America (6 percent) and improving race relations (4 percent).

Eight percent said they don’t know or have no opinion on what the most important issue is.

Not everyone is set on even watching the address, however. About 50 percent say they are likely watching it, while 46 percent said they are not.

The poll of roughly 2,100 registered voters was conducted Jan. 8-10 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 2 percent.
