Jindal: Roberts, Kennedy shouldn’t have been on the Court

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal said Wednesday night that he’d only appoint Supreme Court justices who are “conservative, who are going to be pro-life,” and he said some of the current justices shouldn’t be there now.

“I think absolutely putting Roberts, absolutely putting Kennedy, I think before them putting Souter on the bench was a mistake,” Jindal said, criticizing the appointments of Chief Justice John Roberts (who was appointed by George W. Bush), Anthony Kennedy (Ronald Reagan) and David Souter (George H.W. Bush).

Jindal is 11th on the Washington Examiner‘s power rankings list.

“Conservatives have not been willing to stand up for our beliefs,” he added. “It’s always the conservatives. You never had a Democratic judge wake up and say, ‘Surprise, I’ve evolved, I’ve become a conservative.'”

“I would do what the Democrats have done, I would appoint bold judges that will actually be consistent with my values,” he said.
