Whitney Houston a ‘no-show’ for Ball on the Mall

Most people in town were shocked to hear Whitney Houston would make an appearance at the Trust for the National Mall’s event Saturday night, Ball on the Mall. And with good reason: The erratic diva hasn’t been known to stand for much of anything lately.

She was scheduled to stop over at the event in Washington during a layover to Zurich, Switzerland, where she was scheduled to perform Sunday night, according to her publicist. Her “friend,” jazz artist Ski Johnson, boasted that he could bring the sensation to the charity event thrown to restore and improve the National Mall.

Press were informed an hour into the evening that Houston would shortly arrive and do a 15-minute walk-through, but around 10 p.m., it was clear she was a no-show.

Former child star Ricky Schroeder, who did show up, spoke of his inaugural experiences from Reagan to Obama.

“It was an animal of itself,” Schroeder said of Obama’s inauguration.

Schroeder told Yeas & Nays he will be in Washington for the week, first meeting with the prime minister of Zimbabwe on Monday and then closing the week with the GI Film Festival on Friday, where he will premiere a reality show.
