Jet Li kicks it up a notch to promote kung fu

Hollywood martial arts master Jet Li will join a group of the world’s top wushu kung fu athletes to promote the ancient discipline at the World Champion Wushu Kungfu Show at George Mason University’s Center for the Arts on Sunday. Li will perform with more than 20 kung fu masters to show his support for the sport. His visit to D.C. comes right before he travels to New York, where he will participate in a cultural celebration in honor of China’s 40th anniversary as a member of the United Nations.

The former kung fu national champion was named honorary kung fu ambassador to the U.N. and was invited by the Chinese ambassador to the U.N. to perform with other champion athletes at the organization’s Manhattan headquarters.

Tickets to Sunday’s event start at $20 and are available for purchase online at cfa.gmu.edu/calendar/799. The performance begins at 3 p.m.
