A Chef’s Take on Thanksgiving

French chef Michel Richard didn’t celebrate Thanksgiving until he moved to the States. “I love Thanksgiving because there’s no gifts, it’s just food and family and friends. I also love having everyone together celebrating food, friends and family and all that we are thankful for,” Richard told Yeas & Nays. Like Richard, chef Fabio Trabocchi wasn’t familar with all of the American traditions. “Turkey is not something most Italians grow up eating, but I did, and this recipe is important to me as it is a family recipe.”

Chef Wolfgang Puck and his family served dishes with a bit of a punch. “In Austria, we often had sweet-tangy dishes for the holidays, such as braised red cabbage and cranberry relish,” he says.

Chef Ris Lacoste served up Minnesota Wild Rice and Duck Soup, both she says warm the soul.
