No octopus here
As his term winds down, President Bush is running out of sports teams to honor. On Tuesday, it was the Detroit Red Wings’ turn. “I am looking forward to getting a jersey, as opposed to an octopus,” joked Bush, referring to the team’s historical good luck charm.
Thanks to the team’s large Swedish contingent, seven of the players stopped off at the Swedish embassy in Georgetown (commonly known as the “House of Sweden”) before the visit. Ambassador Jonas Hafstrom gave them a tour of the stunning, modern building, which ended with coffee and Swedish cinnamon rolls.
