Jeb Bush resigns from another company’s board

Jeb Bush is getting his ducks in a row in case he decides to run for president next year.

The former Florida governor will resign from the board of Rayonier Inc., the Associated Press reported Monday, citing a filing by the timber company.

Bush’s latest resignation follows a string of others in recent days. Bush has also stepped down from the boards of Tenet Healthcare Corp. and Barclays. Bush remains on the boards of two other companies.

The movement by Bush to untangle himself from his business web comes after he announced this month that he is “actively exploring” a bid for the presidency in 2016.

Those affiliations will likely nevertheless come under severe scrutiny from political adversaries and the press should Bush ultimately run for president. In 2012, Mitt Romney was dogged by questions regarding investments by Bain Capital, the firm he founded, as well as regarding the wealth he had accrued in that business and others.
