Owen Wilson’s character in the new James L. Brooks romcom “How Do You Know” is a pitcher for the Washington Nationals, so it makes sense that the Nats would host a special screening of the film. On Wednesday night, Nats pitcher Craig Stammen, Manager Jim Riggleman and others joined the owners of the team, the Lerner family, to watch the movie at the Landmark E Street Theater.

“I think he’d make a great teammate,” Stammen dished to NBC Washington about Wilson at the premiere. “He’s a wisecracker and likes to have fun and I think that fits right in in the baseball atmosphere.”

The flick depicts Reese Witherspoon as a softball player who gets cut from her U.S. Olympic team. Her love life is a triangle with Wilson and with Paul Rudd’s character, who is being investigated by the feds. Rudd’s slimy father is played by Jack Nicholson.

All four stars were spotted around Washington when the film was being shot in summer 2009. At the time, Witherspoon was still dating Jake Gyllenhaal and they walked hand-in-hand around Georgetown. Wilson would be seen riding his bike around the city.

Parts of the film were shot at Nationals Park, in Adams Morgan and on 15th Street Northwest near Bobby Van’s Steakhouse.

“How Do You Know” hits theaters Friday.
