The Anti-Defamation League announced Monday that it will redirect money donated by Donald Trump and his foundation over the years to new anti-bias and anti-bullying education efforts.

“In the past decade or so, Mr. Trump and his foundation have contributed a total of $56,000 to our organization. These undoubtedly were sincere gifts,” Jonathan A. Greenblatt, ADL CEO, said in a statement. “But in light of the recent campaign, we have decided to redirect the total amount of funds that he contributed to ADL over the years specifically into anti-bias education programs that address exactly the kind of stereotyping and scapegoating that have been injected into this political season.”

The announcement comes before the Republican presidential front-runner is set to speak at AIPAC’s annual policy conference on Monday night in Washington, D.C. In his remarks, he is set to describe his plans to reach peace between Israel and the Palestinians.

The $56,000 will go to ADL’s “No Place for Hate” program, which operates in the areas of New York, Philadelphia, Cleveland, Atlanta, Houston, Denver, San Diego, San Francisco, Arizona and Las Vegas, Greenblatt said.

“We are taking this step to demonstrate that, even as the campaign has surfaced ugly rhetoric, we can reach higher,” Greenblatt said. “Even as his campaign has mainstreamed intolerance, we can push back on the hate and evoke our better angels not just with words, but with deeds.”

ADL also called on other groups, philanthropies and nonprofits to consider directing charitable funds given to them by Trump to similar initiatives “to combat hate, promote tolerance, and build a stronger American community.”
