The Supreme Court will officially hear oral arguments on same-sex marriage April 28.
In January, the nation’s highest court agreed to hear arguments from cases in Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee regarding same-sex marriage. The Supreme Court announced Thursday it will now hear a two-and-a-half hour consolidated argument on April 28 regarding the hot-button issue.

By the end of the term in late June, the country will know if states can constitutionally refuse to issue same-sex marriage licenses.
The decision on an argument date comes as 379 big businesses — including Google and Goldman Sachs — announce they have signed onto a friend-of-the court brief in support of same-sex marriage to be filed later Thursday, Reuters reported.
Currently, 36 states plus Washington, D.C. allow same-sex marriage.
