By the numbers: White House’s strategic Easter Egg Roll character lineup

99: Minimum number of costume characters who will make an appearance at the 134^th annual White House Easter Egg Roll on April 9. Perhaps owing to this being an election year, the White House has lined up characters to appeal to a variety of voting demographics: environmentalists (Captain Planet), public television types (Elmo), heartland conservatives (Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head), the American exceptionalism contingent (Captain America) and anarchists (Cat in the Hat).
