It seems like President Obama heeded his own “public service announcement” to men on Tuesday that “Today is Valentine’s Day — do not forget!” He took First Lady Michelle Obama to Old Town Alexandria for a Valentine’s Day dinner at Vermilion — where their special menu included some lavish treats like lobster tortelloni, beef with truffle jus and passion fruit cheesecake.
Though the president said he was “speaking from experience” when he told boyfriends and husbands to “go big” for Valentine’s Day, Michelle said last year that she and Barack don’t usually make a big deal of the holiday, but he’s good at remembering dates and anniversaries to keep the romance alive. “He always has to plan Valentine’s. That’s his job,” the first lady told Access Hollywood, adding though that “It’s hard for him to pull off the big surprise when you’ve got a motorcade and police escorts and all that stuff.”
