Tareq Salahi’s eyes lit up on Friday night when he learned that “Real Housewives of New York” stars Alex McCord and Simon van Kempen were within his reach at Cafe Milano, just blocks from the America’s Polo Cup pre-party at Mie N Yu.
The stars of the Bravo series, however, had the exact opposite reaction.
“If the Salahis spin this out of an indictment, then wow,” van Kempen said of the soon-to-be “Real Housewives of D.C.” cast members.
Yeas & Nays caught up with McCord and van Kempen after their book signing Sunday in Tysons Corner for their latest book on parenting, “Little Kids, Big City.”
The Salahis were brought up when Washington native McCord said her mother, a frequent guest on the state dinner circuit, was concerned about her involvement in the Bravo series after the gate-crashing debacle.
“She’d never want to see us around the Salahis,” McCord told Yeas & Nays.
Do they think Bravo set up the White House crash?
“No way,” McCord said. “Bravo doesn’t usually need to set them up.”
“Why would they piss off the White House?” van Kempen added.
