Bernie Sanders is beating Hillary Clinton nationally in the Democratic race for the nomination, according to a new poll.
The new McClatchy-Marist poll, which shows the Vermont senator edging out the former secretary of state 49-47, also finds that 25 percent of Sanders’ voters would not support Clinton in the general election.
Fourteen percent of Clinton supporters say the same of Sanders.
Sanders also leads 76 percent to 23 percent among voters under 30 years old, 63 to 31 percent among Latino voters, 62 to 32 percent among independents, 58 to 38 percent among the unmarried, and 56 percent to 42 percent among self-identified “liberals.”
Clinton’s base is self-identified Democrats, the married, African-Americans, and voters 60 and older, demographics she all wins according to this poll.
The McClatchy-Marist poll was conducted March 29-31, with a margin of error of 2.7 percent.
