Two famous faces livened up local commencement ceremonies this weekend. International businessman Carlos Slim received an honorary degree from George Washington University, drawing a 1000+ crowd to the National Mall to protest Slim’s business practices in Mexico. Slim also inspired a week of protests across GW’s campus. Across town at a less contentious ceremony, NBA player Jeff Green received the Georgetown University diploma he missed out on after turning pro five years ago. After four years of summer school, Green now holds a degree in English with a minor in theology. The current free agent is the first in his family to graduate from college.
