Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump suffer historic levels of unpopularity as nominees for their respective parties, but the news media is still less popular.
Only 19 percent of likely voters have a positive or somewhat positive view of the news media, according to a poll released Wednesday by NBC News and the Wall Street Journal. That’s in contrast to 59 percent who say they have a negative or somewhat negative view.
Clinton is seen positively by 37 percent of those polled and Donald Trump is seen positively by 28 percent. A majority, 52 percent for Clinton and 61 for Trump, see them negatively.
Canada received the highest marks of all the categories, getting a 75 percent positive review. President Obama was the next highest at 51 percent.
The only figure that received a lower review than the news media was Russian President Vladimir Putin, who got a 6 percent positive rating and 66 percent negative.
