Luke Skywalker actor calls for assault weapons ban, endorses Dem

Mark Hamill, who plays the lightsaber-wielding Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars movies, has endorsed a Democratic candidate for the Senate who he says will help enact common-sense gun control.

“It sickens me to see the horrific gun violence in a country I love perpetrated against even the most innocent of schoolchildren, followed by the politicians doing absolutely nothing,” Hamill says in the video endorsing P.G. Sittenfeld. Sittenfeld is running for the Senate seat now held by Sen. Rob Portman, R-Ohio.

“If elected, he’ll work to ban assault weapons, he’ll vote for common-sense gun safety, and he’ll stand up to the NRA,” Hamill added. “He’s right on the issues, and he’ll make a very forceful senator.”
