University of Cambridge professor Jason Arday was found dead at his London home on Aug. 16. When Cambridge hired him to teach the sociology of education in 2023, Arday became the youngest black professor in Cambridge’s history. His department head, Hilary Cremin, told him in an interview staged for a BBC documentary that he was “the best in the world in terms of the research that you do.” Arday resigned on Aug. 5, two weeks after his exposure as a plagiarist and fraud, and the day after Cambridge initiated an inquiry into allegations of serial academic misconduct.
