Biden says the Obama administration’s views on gay marriage are still ‘evolving’

On Meet the Press Vice President Joe Biden said Sunday that the Obama administrations’s views on same-sex marriage are still evolving, but he personally supports men and women’s “rights” to marry whoever they want to.

Although Biden refused to express what the exact nature of the administration’s evolved views on same-sex marriage are, he claimed that he is “absolutely comfortable with the fact that men marrying men, women marrying women.”

Biden defended the administrations refusal to publicly come out behind same sex marriage saying, “the President continues to fight, whether it’s don’t ask don’t tell or whether its making sure across the board that you cannot discriminate.”

He claimed that the policies for same-sex marriage are ‘evolving’ because, “any hospital which gets federal funding which is almost all of them, they can’t deny a partner from being able to access their partner or making a call on whether not they you know.”

Although it is unclear how the administration has evolved in relation to same- sex marriage, it is certain that Biden is not opposed to it. Biden later credited that, “Will and Grace did more to educate the American public than anything has done so far.”

Biden said he didn’t know if the Obama administration would come out in support of gay marriage, despite his personal views on the issue.

“Look, I’m Vice President of the United States of America. The President sets the policy.”

UPDATE: Looks like Biden might have caught another case of foot-in-mouth disease. From MSNBC’s @chucktodd: Biden’s office tells me he was speaking for his own evolving on marriage not for the admin.@meetthepress
