Studies that claim most millennials prefer socialism, but don’t quite understand what it means were validated in several interviews with Florida millennials last weekend.
Red Alert Politics took the streets of Delray Beach and Hollywood’s Boardwalk and asked millennials their thoughts on capitalism versus socialism. While we expected more of a wild scene during spring break season in South Florida, it was just your typical day interviewing millennials who should’ve paid more attention in their high school U.S. history class.

“If I knew the difference I would be able to answer that question a lot better,” one young man responded.
One girl said socialism was definitely better than capitalism, but had no idea why she felt that way. Another claimed that socialism is “for the people… and capitalism is not.”
A guy who was strumming a guitar in a T-shirt that read “I’m Blunted,” said socialism “gives more power to the people.”
“Capitalism is more control, socialism is more, like, freedom to the people,” he said.
However, not all of the millennials interviewed were anti-capitalism.
“If you work you should be able to earn your money and keep that money and it shouldn’t be divided to people who don’t deserve it,” one young man said.
Another person said, “Socialism seems like it would be a great idea if people could actually get it to work, but it hasn’t actually worked.”
