Morning Joe can’t understand why Dems are so bad at explaining their Obama votes

Democrats this election cycle are doing anything to avoid talking about their former support for President Obama, and Morning Joe is not impressed.

Democratic candidate for Senate in Kentucky Alison Lundergan Grimes has refused multiple times to even say whether or not she voted for Obama. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.) gave a vague answer in a debate about her support for Obama, failing to make clear what exactly she supports and what she does not: “In some ways I approve, in some ways I don’t approve,” she told the audience.

“It’s politics 101,” Morning Joe host Joe Scarborough exclaimed, stunned at the candidates’ inability to defend their past records.

“You can make a Democratic argument,” Scarborough continued. “’Did I vote for him ’08? Yeah! Against John McCain’, if I’m if New Hampshire. ‘Darn right! The economy was going off the cliff. We’ve had — whatever the talking point is — 50-plus months of economic growth. Saved the car industry. Gave health care. Blah blah, you can do the list. Now do I agree with him on everything? No, I don’t.’ But this is not hard to do.”

“’Send me back to Washington,” Bloomberg Politics editor Mark Halperin suggested, “’and I’ll make sure the president does this to fix Obamacare.’ Say what you actually believe. Not that complicated.”
