Rick Perry to anyone considering running through governor’s mansion: You’ll be knocked ‘dead down’

Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s security detail isn’t messing around.

In reference to the recent White House security breach, Perry said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” that his security detail at the governor’s mansion would knock anyone “dead down” who was trying to enter the premises.

“Speaking about getting knocked down,” Perry explained. “Let me tell you: Texas governor’s [security] detail, do not try to run through the governor’s mansion. Shannon O’Neil, the lady that’s on our detail –”

“She’ll knock you down?” host Joe Scarborough interrupted.

“Dead down,” Perry confirmed.

Apparently, that’s better than the Secret Service agents at the White House could do. A man armed with a knife made his way far into Obama’s residence on September 19 before being apprehended.

On Tuesday, Secret Service Director Julia Pierson addressed the incident to the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. Despite her effort to assure lawmakers that “what happened is unacceptable and it will never happen again,” Pierson nevertheless faced disapproval and skepticism from both Democrats and Republicans.

Perry also hinted at his potential run for president in 2016 during his interview on “Morning Joe.”

We’re hoping that, if he wins, he’ll bring his own security detail to the White House.
