MSNBC’s year-end Hillary Clinton ‘best and worst’ list isn’t balanced

This week, MSNBC rated Hillary Clinton’s “best and worst” moments over the past year, and they hit the nail right on the head with the “worst” category.

Among Clinton’s bad moments are her “dead broke” claims, her paltry attempt to distance herself from President Obama, her meager book sales for “Hard Choices,” and her heavily scrutinized, overwhelmingly mocked, outrageous speech fees.

Unfortunately for MSNBC, Hillary just couldn’t match her “worst” with her “best.” The list’s high moments for Clinton are a stretch at best.

For instance, the piece commends the former secretary of State’s appearance at the Iowa steak fry, where she mingled with Democratic Sen. Tom Harkin and shouted outrageously to the crowd, “Hello Iowa. I’m baaaack!”

Just because her voice hit a high note doesn’t make the steak fry a high point.

The “best” list also mentions a few blips in Clinton’s year that hardly prove memorable, such as a speech she delivered in Philadelphia while campaigning for Democrats ahead of the midterm election, her comments in the wake of the Michael Brown shooting in Ferguson, and her now obvious friendship with the Kennedy “political dynasty.”

Then, of course, there’s the birth of her granddaughter, Charlotte, which Clinton proudly celebrated on social media.

Sure, a baby picture is pretty cute, but it doesn’t quite make people forget about Clinton charging a university $225,000 for a speech and then complaining about the high cost of college tuition and burden of student loans during that very speech.

The “worst” portion of MSNBC’s list also misses a few stellar moments (How about her comment about businesses and corporations?), but I’ll be sure to cover them in my own year-end Hillary Clinton post, coming soon. Stay tuned.
