The brother’s had been plotting the donation for well over a year according to The New York Times and were originally considering several candidates but have all but settled on Rubio even though he wasn’t their first choice.
Political insiders who ran into the Koch brothers at a political event in New York City said that the pair were very upset when Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) dropped out of the race and now are focusing on Rubio.
“It’s sad. I think (Walker) just ran out of money. But I think he’ll be back for another presidential run in the future,” David Koch allegedly said to friends according to the NY Daily News.
The brothers are determined not to back a loser again, so they focused on finding another candidate when Walker started declining in the polls.
That’s why they are not allegedly backing someone until the polls show a clear consensus.
Reports also said that they had positive things to say about Carly Fiorina.
Allegedly the brothers did not say anything about Republican frontrunner Donald Trump and only negative things to say about former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush.
